All roads lead to Beth Kanter..

So, Beth Kanter is the person to follow if you want to know about how to engage and network as a non-profit or charity in the digital world. Life's coincidences are funny sometimes. The "Ladder of Engagement" example I used recently I read a quite while ago on Mashable without noticing the name. I just "got it" and started to immediately adapt and apply that structure to my work in the music industry. And then, whilst researching some thoughts for the Foodchain and the charity sector, I stumbled upon it again. Then I stumbled upon this book which looked like another great resource for my research. Didn't clock the name on either the book or the Mashable piece until I noticed when I looked at the contents data on amazon that the book had a chapter called "The Ladder of Engagement". Oh.... hang on. Penny drops. Same person. Oh and she's giving a talk in about 2 weeks time in London. Sold out unfortunately but I've put myself on the waiting list. In the meantime, all roads lead to Beth Kanter. And her rather well-known blog. Of course. Goddammit amazon, hurry up with my book! I knew I should have bit the bullet and bought a Kindle..
Thanks for the kind words! Let me know what you think about the book!
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks Beth. Any chance I can get on your London talk at all?! :)))
ReplyDeleteconnect with @stevebridger on Twitter - he is helping to organize. Hope the book arrived
ReplyDeleteWill do my best. We could fill Wembley, I reckon. There's a waiting list and I'll be nudging people to let me know if their plans have changed, etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, cross fingers! x
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose either of you can give me any advice on getting a job in the charity sector in digital? I'm trying to change industry at possibly the worst time ever, but I am feeling a calling (as it were) to it and the thought just struck me that you might be able to offer some words of advice. I currently help the foochain.org.uk popping in their office from time to time but perhaps an internship somewhere with an already flourishing digital dept might be the way to go?
